Golf Tournament
The 18th Annual Schulenburg Festival Golf Classic will be held on Friday, August 3rd at the Weimar Golf Course with a tee time of 9:00 a.m.
The tournament is limited to 80 players or (20) 4-person teams, and unfortunately for “new” golfers wanting to play, there’s pretty much a “standing full-field” of the same 20 teams that play year after year.
However, we do make up a “waiting list” for golfers wanting to get in. If a team drops out, we will contact the person at the top of the waiting list to advise a spot has opened up.
The format will once again be a 4-person scramble, and will follow the system of forming teams that we implemented in 2007. Players will be able to form their own team, regardless of each player’s handicap. At the completion of play, teams will then be “flighted” according to the score they shot that day…best score on top and on down.
Cash and prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd Place teams in each of the three flights. There will also be prizes for Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.
The entry fee is $60.00 per player (cart rental NOT included). Cart rentals are handled directly through the Weimar Golf Course. Players who have carts are “strongly encouraged” to bring them to Weimar on tournament day as there are a limited number of rental carts available.
There will be pigs, kolaches and donuts (courtesy of Kountry Bakery in Schulenburg) served in the morning and sausage wraps (courtesy of J-Bar-B Foods) and chips (courtesy of Neal Beyer, Frito Lay) served at the turn.
The Festival Golf Classic has raised over $65,000 in our first 17 tournaments, thanks in large part to the tremendous support of area businesses. As with all Festival monies raised, proceeds go toward scholarships, charitable causes and civic projects in the community.
To inquire about entry availability or participate in sponsorship opportunities, text Tommy Brown at 979-743-1093, or you can send an e-mail to tbrown31@hotmail.com.
